Although they are unified around a common purpose, our outreach ministries are as diverse as their volunteers. BLOCK PARTIES

Is a day at the barbecue, grooving to upbeat jams and basking in the glorious Son your idea of paradise? Bust out the flip-flops and Hawaiian shirt and come on down!

The VBF Block Party Ministry reaches out to local neighborhoods in a joyful celebration of the love of Jesus. Equipped with contemporary worship, cheerful and loving attitudes, and savory free treats from the barbecue, block party teams march into Bakersfield cul-de-sacs with God-powered exuberance! If you're ready to affect the lost, the lonely, the complacent with your infectious love for Jesus, VBF Block Parties needs you to help set up, clean up, cook, serve, and love people.

MEALS MINISTRY

Does the delightful aroma wafting from your kitchen make the neighbors salivate? If you're a crock-pot aficionado, we need your help.

The VBF Meals Ministry provides home cooked dinners for families in crisis. Volunteers are needed to prepare meals for funerals and other family emergencies. If you love to cook and find yourself in the kitchen most of the time anyway, why not use your culinary skills to bless the body of Christ.

PRISON CORRESPONDENCE

In a world of isolation and dreariness, a thoughtful letter becomes a message of hope. Are you willing to be the heart of kindness behind that letter?

The VBF Prison Ministry reaches out to inmates with the transforming message of redemption in Christ. The ministry team meets regularly to pray over prisoners and write letters filled with the love of Jesus. You may not thrive among crowds, but you can affect a positive change in many lives. Your letters will provide the encouragement these inmates need to survive their incarceration.

BAR MINISTRY

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to visit that old honky tonk with a born-again spirit? This challenge is for mature Christians only.

The VBF Bar Ministry sends teams of mature Christians to local nightclubs every Thursday evening to spread the message of new life in Jesus. Armed with listening ears, loving hearts and compelling personal testimonies, these warriors for Christ permeate dark places with the light of God's love. If you are a disciplined believer with a heart for the lost, God may be calling you to be a part of this team.

MEXICO & BAJA

We send a team of volunteers to Tijuana, Mexico and Mulege, Baja California to minister with food, clothing, prayer, and building projects. If you are interested in traveling on one of our mission trips, fill out a Response Card, put it in the Chatterbox, and someone will call you with the upcoming trip dates and details.

NEIGHBORHOOD OUTREACH

Friendly faces and caring hearts needed to reach out to our friends in the VBF neighborhood.

Our VBF Neighborhood Outreach Team exists to show the love of Jesus to those who live in the area surrounding our church. We provide free haircuts and bicycle repairs, paint children's faces, and offer welcoming smiles to all who come. If you love to help people, come be part of a ministry that bathes our neighbors in Christ's love.

MIGHTY MEN

If you believe real men aren't afraid to love, care, and show compassion, we have a spot for you on a Mighty Men Team.

The VBF Mighty Men are a battalion of warriors for Christ. Girded with the truth and faith, these soldiers for Jesus infiltrate the community with a message of love. The Mighty Men are dedicated to growing through accountability. Although the group as a whole is large, each volunteer is assigned to a small team. Teams meet weekly for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Each team is committed to completing a community service project every other month. Being a part of this ministry provides opportunities to connect with godly men and grow in Christ while being the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to a lost world.

WOMEN IN ACTION

Women, do you desire to develop relationships with other godly women while serving the community? Don't sit around hoping for a chance to connect. Be a woman in action!

The VBF Women in Action are an army of consecrated, Christian women focused on reaching the community with the love of Jesus. Although the group as a whole is large, each volunteer is assigned to a small team. These teams meet weekly for Bible study, prayer, laughter, and fellowship. Each team is committed to completing a community service project every other month. Being a part of this ministry provides opportunities to connect with other women and grow in Christ while being the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus.

FOOD ROOM TEAM

Do you have a welcoming smile and a heart of compassion for those in need? Do you thrive in an atmosphere of one on one contact? You're the perfect fit for our food room.

The VBF Food Room provides staples, canned goods, and miscellaneous items to those in need in our church body and the community. Volunteers are needed to assemble food baskets, do grocery shopping, keep inventory on the stock at hand, and-most importantly of all-show those in need that Jesus is the Provider. If your heart is characterized by empathy and you desire to use that gift to bless others, come be a part of the VBF Food Room ministry and touch those in need with the love of Christ.
